It’s the athlete’s duty to know the rules of the event in which they are participating.

positive points
Guard pass: 3 points. To get the points, the referee will be looking for control. As a general rule the referee looks for approximately 75% of the back on the mat.
Knee on the stomach: 2 points. Any knee (inside or outside) can score. The knee should be in the middle of the stomach, not on the chest or sides. The opponent cannot be on his side. If the points are scored and then of your own free will you withdraw your knee for 3 seconds or more and put the knee back on the stomach for 3 seconds or more, you will score the points again. The position of the other leg is irrelevant. You can control your opponent’s head and arms as well.
Mounted: 2 points. Both knees should be touching the mat. Back mounted is worth the points too. If the opponent has both arms under the legs (double under), the points are also worth. the opponent’s back must be 100% on the mat. The 2 knees must be below the shoulder line. Back: 3 points. Hooks and triangle to the body are acceptable. If you remove a hook or disarm the triangle for more than 3 seconds and put the hook or arm the triangle again for 3 seconds or more, you will score points again.
Knockdown (staying in guard) 2 points. The opponent needs to sit for 3 seconds. If you knock the opponent down and he puts you in a submission, points will not be awarded until you escape the submission and control the opponent for 3 seconds.
“Clean” takedown (finished in side control) 4 points. You must be out of finishing danger and 75% or more of the opponent’s back must be on the mat. You have to control the position for 3 seconds or more.
Scrape (finished in half guard or guard) 2 points. An inversion is considered when 2 athletes face each other, change position from bottom to top and establish that position for 3 seconds or more. You should not be at risk of termination.
“Clean” scrape (ending in lateral control) 4 points. Reversal: It is considered a scratch. If the athlete is being controlled in the side or mounted and reverses the position, he will earn points, 2 if he ends up in guard, or 4 if he ends up in side control.
All scrapes must be completed in one continuous motion for points to be valid. If at the time of passing the guard the athlete ends up directly in the Mounted or Kneeling position on the stomach, only the points for passing the guard will be valid.
PENALTIES (NEGATIVE POINTS)
When the athlete voluntarily jumps to the guard or goes from a standing position to a guard position in any way and stays 3 seconds or more, he will be penalized 1 negative point.
When the athlete avoids contact and begins to back away from each opponent’s attempt to make contact. You will be penalized with 1 negative point
The passive athlete will be warned 2 times and then penalized with 1 negative point. The referee must warn the passive athlete with the words “passive action” – after the first negative point given there will be no further warning calls and negative points will be given directly if the athlete continues to avoid fighting.
If the athlete is extremely passive during the first part of the bout where there are no negative points, the referee will still give him “warnings” for passivity and give him the negative point when the second part of the bout begins.
If two athletes (teammates) fix the fight, regardless of the instance they are in, both athletes will be disqualified from the event.
observations
We know that in these rules it is difficult to score points. That is why the number 1 criterion when judging a tied fight for referees is who the athlete is initiating the action.
If an athlete initiates the action and if the opponent counterattacks, we will continue to place a lot of emphasis on the person who initiated the action, because without that initiation the counterattack would not have existed. We judge the entire fight, not just the overtimes.
In addition to initiation, we take into consideration; control of positions, submission attempts and all the factors that make up a fight, but once again criterion number 1 is who initiates the action. This does not include false initiation.
REFEREE’S CRITERION
If you initiate a submission from Mount, side control or in another athlete’s guard, and go from a “top” position to a “bottom” position. Your opponent will not have the “scrape” points because you initiated the action.
If you initiate a takedown, and end up in the 4-support position while actually trying to finish the takedown for more than 3 seconds and then “call” guard, you will not be penalized 1 negative point
If you leave the fighting area during the fight, DO NOT STOP, only the referee can stop the fight and reset the position in the center of the mat.
We don’t want athletes fighting in the corners of the area. If a scramble happens that is difficult to stop and reset, we will let the fight continue outside the fighting area.
